The Eternal Abyss

Your Social Link has Leveled Up!

by GundaMaid on Jul.24, 2010, under Hobbies, Ramblings

Sigh… I haven’t been able to blog lately – I didn’t realize that overloading my subjects will wear me out so much @_@ There are 2 prototypes due next week for my CS classes and probably another lab exercise, plus another History 165 exam is coming up! (I swear, I will suck at History forever (got a C for my last exam)- I really can’t bring myself to remember the facts much less write about it. Our teacher is a grammar nazi too – plus he has some biased insights. He keep on using Pigafetta (Magellan’s chronicler) as his source for his book, but some of the history professors I know refuse to use only Pigafetta because the reports he wrote were to be presented to the King of Spain, so he might be over-exaggerating some information. Ahwell, can’t do anything about that.

I’m also currently addicted to Persona 3 Portable! I’ve been able to finish the original Persona 3 back in my PS2 days, so it was a fresh start to begin with the female main character so you can see the other point of views of the characters. Now, because I’m trying to relax and get into the mood of reading our tenure of a History book, I decided to make some social links based on my life and my friends :) I hope my friends don’t see this though.(Warning: This will be a very long post as there are 21 Arcanas in all – but I’ll probably make the first 6 ones first)

The Fool Arcana: Portrayed as a jester laughing very close to a cliff, accompanied with a dog at his heels. The Fool represents innocence, divine inspiration, madness, freedom, spontaneity, inexperience, chaos, and creativity.

The Fool

The Fool

Character: As per the usual case in the recent Persona series, the Fool Arcana is associated with the main character, in this case, me, Lev xD

Background: Lev is a very spontaneous person. She is even known by some as a “jack of all trades” – she knows how to draw, write(fiction and some poems), play instruments, play sports, and speak different languages, but she is master of none since she really doesn’t have any preference over those skills. She spends time with her friends as needed, and even offers advices to them. The Fool is represented by zero, nothingness, which means it’s undefined and doesn’t have any boundaries, which is very much like Lev.

Social Link Level: 7

The Magician Arcana: the Magician Arcana is commonly associated with action, initiative, self-confidence, manipulation and power (more specifically, the power to harness one’s talents).

Character: Danna

Background: Danna has been one of Lev’s closest friends since grade school. She is quite frank and never holds back what she wants to say. She doesn’t like to be manipulated by people, but instead it’s the other way around, although unintentionally. Despite her antics, she is still sensitive enough to know if someone has a problem and can actually find out at the first guess what it is.

Social Link Level: 6

The Priestess: Portrayed as an old woman with a closed book, the Priestess Arcana is a symbol of hidden knowledge or other untapped power, wisdom, female mystery and magic when it appears in tarot readings.

Character: Lindsey

Background: Being the eldest one in the family, Lindsey usually appears to be very innocent about the world because she is doted by her parents. Eventually, however, she suddenly displayed thoughts and ideas her friends didn’t know she knew. Her innocence is actually just a face, and she remains a closed book to everyone except her closest friends.

Social Link Level: 5

The Empress: In tarot readings, the Empress represents prosperity, creativity, sexuality, abundance, fertility and comfort (most often in helping maintain peace around them like an ideal mother would.)

Character: Sharie
Background: Most of her friends call her “mommy Sharie” due to her unusual concern for her friends. At parties, she would offer to partition portions to everyone personally, even though she’s not the host. She is the person everyone turns to for concerns regarding their love life due to her queer knowledge of how a person thinks. She is very emotional, but quite bad in things that require logic – but that’s what her friends are for, right?

Social Link Level: 8

The Emperor: In tarot readings, the Emperor symbolizes the desire to control one’s surroundings, and its appearance could suggest that one is trying too hard to achieve this, possibly causing trouble for others; some elements in life are just not controllable.

Character: Jason

Background: Usually seen by others as a slave driver, he is in fact quite ambitious and works better when left alone as compared to when in a group. He always demands control when in a group, but doesn’t realize that his groupmates doesn’t approve of him as a self-elected leader. He always believes that his beliefs are the truth, and he is able to defend it. He has yet to realize how to properly socialize with people and treat them as humans rather than minions.

Social Link Level: 4

The Hierophant: The Hierophant is a symbol of education, authority, conservatism, obedience to rules and relationship with the divine. The definition of a “hierophant” is a person who interprets sacred mysteries or esoteric principles, and the term was originally used to name ancient Greek priests who did so.

Character: TC
Background: TC is very sensitive about his religious beliefs and holds importance to divine teachings. He is the type of guy parents would love to have as a son – obedient, hardworking, and studious. However, this has its own drawbacks – he doesn’t realize that sometimes he’s a workaholic and forgets to pay attention to the more important things in life, like his social commitments.

Social Link Level: 7

Well, that concludes the first six arcanas in the Persona series =)) I’ll probably do another 6 once I think of people to associate with the arcanas.

Would any one of you guys want to share your experiences with playing P3P? If you’ve got questions regarding CFW problems I could probably answer them because I’ve been through a lot D: I even had the game hang on me and I was so scared I had to restart everything because someone told me it would only work properly on a certain CFW. Guess not, lol.

Soredemo boku wa yatte nai!

by GundaMaid on Jul.05, 2010, under Ramblings

- goes the title of the Eiga Sai movie I watched at Shangrila. It’s actually my first time going to this event yesterday(I was actually required to watch for my JSP111 class), and I didn’t expect to see TONS of people lining up for the free movie passes sponsored by the Japan Foundation. I was in line for more than 2 hours:

That line goes a looong way

That line goes a looong way

Lots of people behind me >:)

Lots of people behind me >:)

They were only giving 200 tickets for each show, and it was to be released at exactly 1 hour before screening time. It was only 2:30 and I the line was already THAT LONG for the 4:30 show o.o After you got the tickets, you have to line up outside the cinema AGAIN and wait for the previous show to end else you won’t get good seats.

The movie focused on the legal system of Japan and its atrocities. A young man going for a work interview was mistaken to be a chikan (or groper) by a young schoolgirl. The man insisted that he didn’t do it, and even carried the accusation to court while he was being detained in jail because he didn’t want to admit something that he didn’t do (the detectives repeatedly told him to ‘fess up because he won’t be able to win the case). The man’s side presented some really convincing proofs, while the girl just kept assuming that he’s the man who groped her. Actually, I’m quite pissed at the girl because come on, if you were so used to being groped you could at least wear a pantylet or something since their skirts were so short. And she was so stupid as to believe that the man beside her didn’t touch her, because he said “it’s impossible to grope in that position, we experimented.” -___- Stupid bitch. I want to slap her silly.

The first judge was quite rational, and started to believe the young man’s claims. However, just when the court turned to the man’s favor, a new judge replaced the old one. This judge was quite the skeptic, and kept siding with the prosecutor. In the end, even with all the hardships the man encountered, he still lost the case. Like they say, it’s like the verdict was already decided upon from the beginning (what with a 99.9% conviction rate), and the legal system wasn’t impartial. The movie ended with a quote directed at the Japanese Supreme Court (I forgot the quote though).

I left the movie house with a heavy heart, and proceeded to shop at Forever 21 (the new boutique at SM Megamall) to drown out my enmity from the movie. When I got there, voila there’s another line at their cashier! A long, yet organized line. I swear I had had enough of lining up for that day. I proceeded to check out what people were fussing about in their blogs. Their clothes were so-so, and it’s not exactly “affordable” since a top costs like P800-P1k+ and dresses cost P1.5k – P2k. Some of their pieces I could find at other cheaper establishments, but I have to admit that their franchise looks like something I would wear. They look like something along the lines of Zara, Candies, and Kamiseta. I wasn’t able to take pictures there because I was simply too tired.

I was tempted to buy a dress though (P1.9k), so I proceeded on lining up again. Lo and behold, you can earn and redeem SM advantage points in this store! If I knew I would have bought more clothes since my points rack up to the high thousands (don’t ask why, I just have it LOL ). I used to buy clothes from 2%, but since F21 accepts my SM advantage card, I think I have a new place to frequent.

What about you guys? Any qualms about the flagship store of Forever 21? :D

On the first week of classes my professors gave to me…

by GundaMaid on Jul.02, 2010, under Ramblings

*This is a repost of the lost entry I made during server change. It has risen from the abyss once again!*

A whole load of readings to photocopy~ Well, as the title states, my first week of classes has gone by (I’m already in 3rd year FTW). My last semester had me waking up with headaches and/or drowsiness since I had tons of morning classes (and having yoga in the early morn didn’t help as much as I thought it would), but this time I had more afternoon classes, and guess what? I still end up with headaches and/or drowsiness by the end of the day. Why is that? You’ll find out in the next few posts.

First week of classes in our school usually end up with us having orientation and being dismissed quite early, but I didn’t encounter that AT ALL this time. Most professors started lessons already, if not their introductions were quite lengthy. Father Arcilla (History 165) already started discussing, or storytelling (I really can’t tell because his voice was barely audible in the back rows) but I really can’t put my mind to listening to him on the very first day so I ended up sleeping in his class for a bit (hey, the aircon was tempting). Forget experience; if you can’t keep your students awake by your lectures try changing your style.

CS 123 had an Indonesian professor named Teknomo, and he’s one of the 2 Teknomos in the world (try googling his name). Putting his accent aside, he was quite active in teaching the lesson and he wanted to keep his students engaged, which was both a good thing and a bad thing. The good side is that it’s quite impossible to fall asleep in his class; the bad side is that he usually has graded recitations and you have to submit what you recited in class every end of the day to be recorded. Also, the distribution of grades for recitation is dependent on the most active person in class, which is quite disadvantageous for me since we have 3 chatty cathys (sorry guys but could you just please STFU) and reciting really isn’t my thing.

Having Philosophy 101 in the late afternoon usually means that my brain cells have been used up by the previous classes, so it’s not in its optimal state. Putting that aside, our professor was quite young, which was quite advantageous since most professors like her usually teach better than the senior faculty and knows which readings will leave the student engaged, and not bored to death. I actually can’t find an upperclassman whose readings I can borrow since they all stated that they liked her readings so much that they want to keep it. I guess this means that I will have a semester to look forward to.

Sir Diy for CS 152 was really funny, along with his rules wherein bad odor and long armpit hair were banned due to his being easily distracted. He reminds me of my student teacher crush in high school; they have EXACTLY the same teaching style and fashion style. My crush used to tell all the students who wanted to ask permission to go to the washroom that they had to deal with it because it’s a test of endurance. CS 177 for my Saturday class (yes, I have Saturday classes IN THE AFTERNOON so bye bye shopping day) was quite interesting as well. The teacher looked quite androgynous, so I think it would be better if I didn’t divulge his name.

FINALLY, the professor who was the cause of my being drowsy by the end of the day (which was partly the fault of my hypocrite frenemy whom I’ll go into the details in the next few days) is none other than the teacher of my additional subject and the chair of the Japanese department. Again, I SHOULDN’T BE in this subject if not for my frenemy (I really want to kill you right now) because if I was successful in changing my section in CS 152 I would have been with Ms. Ventura right now. So, what makes her so bad? Shouldn’t she be good in Japanese since she’s the chair? However, my subject isn’t a language subject, it’s a SOCIOLOGY subject. So that means the whole subject she will be speaking in ENGRISH. She also has barely audible voice. For my blockmates, to give you a better idea, she has Mr. Saldana’s voice, Sir Jal’s drowsy way of speaking, and even worse grammar and accent than Mr. Teknomo. It’s like I’ve been listening to morse code during her whole class time. Morse code because I feel like I’m just FEELING, working around whatever she’s saying and trusting my instincts because even though I’m in the 2nd row, it’s like I need a hearing aid.

Welcome to my first semester, 3rd year of college.

Insure your car, insure your life

by GundaMaid on Jun.21, 2010, under Reviews

There was this friend of mine who really loved cars, and sometimes, he really wished he could drive like a real race car driver. Most of the time, he would pretend to be Speed Racer, driving really fast but without a seatbelt on. Unfortunately, he got into an accident on the road one day, and his car was pretty much totaled, and he sustained a share of injuries as well. What’s more unlucky about that story was that he never got any insurance, and ended up losing more than he should.

That story got me thinking how important having insurances is. So I started looking around, and found this one: Los Angeles Car Insurance. Well I don’t live in Los Angeles, but this site made we want to – it’s really comprehensive and helpful. They even have a toll-free number you can call anytime for free: 1-800-475-6840. Car Insurance Los Angeles offers a wide range of insurances not specific to one insurance company, thus ensuring the best deals every time. They really help their clients find insurances for all sorts of stuff without needing to commit to just one company for all of it. Finding insurances was never an easy task, but with them, it is a breeze. Go check out Los Angeles Auto Insurance now.

Forget me not perfume

by GundaMaid on Jun.21, 2010, under Reviews

I know it’s distracting to have body odor (yes, Sir Diy) but let’s face it, it can’t be erased by simply spraying yourself with perfume. If you do that, the smell would just multiply itself. You also can’t just spray yourself with perfume if you didn’t take a bath because it would produce the same results. For those people who have body odor woes, just use an effing deodorant or take a bath. After you do that, it would be safe to use perfume. For those of you who are too lazy to stand up and go to a store, you can simply google something like, Perfumes for women, and you can order right then and there. Not all of the internet is porn, so don’t be afraid to google when in doubt.

Photo Editing

by GundaMaid on Jun.13, 2010, under Ramblings

Some events in the past few days have led me into a depressed trance, so I started working on editing these photos to reflect my emotions at the moment. The hate for a certain person still hasn’t quite disappated, and I’m still quite bitter over that event. It’s hard to hate someone who is considered as “Miss congeniality” unless you want the whole world to turn on you :\ (lol Tomato I still remember your example of our popular Jejemon friend whom we can’t hate since she’s too kind) Let’s face it, we all have our personal prejudices against people. I’m just having a hard time with expressing my hate because I’m sick and tired of people judging how I view people. Well, enough of the rant for now; the rage is starting to well up again.

Two sides of the coin

Two sides of the coin

This embodies how I feel right now.

This embodies how I feel right now.

How I wish this would happen

How I wish this would happen

I really really really really hate you :\ That’s as far as I can go right now. I’m just lucky the said person doesn’t know my blog. I hope I won’t get to see you, but I’m afraid I’ll have to. I’ll just do as you told me Jon; I’ll keep on doing my best until people appreciate the hard work I’ve been doing :\
